About Fungo and Training Baseball Bats
Baseball coaches and instructors now
have more choices to assist player instruction. Every
baseball coach uses a fungo bat to hit grounders to their infielders or
fly balls to their outfielders. Most coaches have only seen the light
thin fungo bats which require a lot of energy to swing. More and more
professional coaches have switched to the maple X BATS
fungo bats. The maple fungoes do not split, do not have to be taped and
can be custom built for you in your school or team colors with your
name and school name engraved on the barrel. Once you swing an X
BAT maple fungo, you’ll wonder
why you
ever swung anything else. It takes almost no effort to swing an X
BAT maple fungo- just drop the head on the ball
and watch it jump off the bat. We have several Major League Spring
Training instructors in their 80s who swear by our maple fungoes. Hit
fungoes for an hour and your back and arms will get a real workout.
Swing an X BAT fungo and the
bat does all the work for you. Reggie Smith, who runs one of the top
baseball academies in the country (http://www.reggiesmithbaseball.com)
developed an extended fungo bat with us with a longer barrel and
greater hitting surface area. All his instructors swing X
BAT fungoes.
X BATS also makes two very valuable coaching tools- the Log and the Shorty. The log is a big barreled bat with a weight differential between +2 and +12. Many professional players and hitting instructors use the Log to develop strong hands, wrists and a shorter more compact swing. The Shorty is used by players for one handed drills for tee or short toss work. Players develop a flatter more direct swing and add strength and flexibility to their hands, wrists and forearms by making the Shorty part of their daily warm-up.
Customize your fungo training bat by length, barrel color, handle color, knob type, and flag type. You can even add an inscription and signature. Rush production is available.

Short Barrel Training Bat
This bat was developed as a training tool to build bat speed and train the hitter to hit the sweet spot- both very necessary to hitting with power and consistency. Just making contact is no longer acceptable. Today, not only making contact, but hitting the "sweet spot" is crucial to have any type of success.
